As a fact of life for many, it’s likely that you’re familiar with the suffering of trauma. It is an unfortunate side-effect that imprints on us when we experience stressful situations which exceed our capacity to cope. The effects can range from mild to debilitating and can arise from a tragedy, accident or an everyday event. 

Common symptoms can involve: nightmares, hypervigilance, mood swings and reduced ability to deal with stress. Panic attacks, avoidant behaviour, self-harm or an inability to connect with others may also present with time. 

At the root, many people feel disconnected from their bodies. Feelings of shame and fear are common when dealing with difficulties in the aftermath of trauma. Unexplained health issues can arise such as fibromyalgia or chronic pain.
